Hi, sometimes it is tricky to know exactly what is excepted with home learning. So I thought it might be handy to just offer some examples of the sentences element. We are looking ofcourse to develop key Year One skills but also look forward to Year 2 and making sure they are as ready as possible for their next learning step.
Handwriting is a key skill, keeping the letters the same size as each other is a key skill as it making sure the letters are formed correctly.
Spelling- Please don't worry if there are mistakes, your child is learning this tricky skill in many ways. If words are phonetically plausible that is great. Though key Year One words should be spelled correctly. (See list at bottom of this post)
Capital letters and full stops need to be mostly correctly, however I, names and days of the week should have capitals.
Finally, using and is great to join short sentences together but- because, so, but and however are even better!
Here is a quick example
I love playing football, because you can score goals and it is lots of fun. My team is called Bishops Cannings and we train on a Tuesday. My Granny takes me to Football because Daddy is at work and Mummy stays at home with Alice.
I hope this helps, please do not hesitate to ask me any questions.
